It takes 3-4 yrs of coursework to do the studies required for a professional landscape architect.
In India alone, there are only 15 universities with courses related to Landscape Architecture. Some of them include Bharathidasan University, Chennai; Anna University, Guindy campus; Pondicherry Institute of Technology and Science affiliated Colleges. There may be some courses in other countries that offer landscape architecture programs as well - but it's highly unlikely that they will come from higher ranked institutions like Cornell or MIT.
So if you want to become a professional landscaper in your country in particular, the first thing you can do is search for postgraduates programs locally and then narrow down on which one is best suits your requirements.

India's economy is pegged as the world's fastest growing. This includes a strong landscape architecture industry with increased demand and high salaries for young designers.
Though difficult to estimate, 20-30% of all landscape architects are in Asia. The profession is also exploding in India where most firms are focused on residential design, urban design and creating sustainable infrastructure though it seems that almost everyone desires their personal courtyard garden or park space as well. India isn't constrained by geographic boundaries either, which means there are plenty of opportunities abroad too - "urbanizing" Indonesia for example and integrating green spaces within China's megacities such as Beijing through steps like making parks car-free zones...

The profession of landscape architecture in India is governed by the Professional and Higher Education Regulation Act (P.H.E.R), 2010 and it's Regulations Quaity Council of India (QCI) Acts, held on 31st May 2013 taking into account amendment to PHER Act, 2010 as per notification published on 30th April 2015 vide GSR 453(E) dated 29th September 2015; recently Jawaharlal Nehru Skill Mission Directorate-India (JNSMD-I) has taken over responsibility for implementation of regulation governing education in landscape architecture with effect from 1st October 2017.

It helps to attend a national or international design school with an architecture curriculum.
There are different landscape architect degrees from specific institutions, each with its own admissions requirements and benefits. If you want the shortest path to become a certified landscape architect in India, it will be most straight-forward for you to complete degrees at an accredited institution from which you can automatically take Landscape Architecture exams through the NBCE board of Certification.
A degree or diploma in this field is not necessary for entry into this profession, but without formal education many opportunities may be unavailable. In order to get jobs as a designer your portfolio should demonstrate your talent in creative landscaping solutions for clients within India and internationally.

To become a landscape architect in India, you will need to complete a degree in architecture first with a specialization in landscape design. Building on that base, you can pursue graduate credentials that eventually lead to the title registered professional landscape architect (RPLA).
Upon completion of the required curriculum for such an education path, aspiring generalist architects can choose one of four paths: development management; urban design and planning; policy; or sustainable landscapes. Specialisms within these areas include but are not limited to sustainability consulting for residential homes and neighborhoods not only locally but globally as well as colonial heritage conversion projects.
