How to color rooms in a house?

08.03.2022 Admin 199
People have been trying to decorate their living spaces for thousands of years. It's only in the past 100 that people have been able to choose from a large variety of paints, which makes it harder to decide on a color scheme.
One of the most common problems is deciding how different rooms should be colored. There are some general rules and guidelines that can help with choosing colors for any room in the house, including kitchens and bathrooms.
Before settling on a final choice, consider what type of "feel" you're going for in each room. Also, think about who will actually live there and whether they will be more comfortable if certain parts were accentuated more than others.

Choosing the right color for a room
Decide on a style for each room; this will make it easier to choose the right color. For example, if you're decorating one room as a study and another as a bedroom, they'll need very different color schemes. However, this isn't always the case. Living rooms sometimes contain more than one purpose depending on how they're used, so they can be decorated in several different styles.
For nurseries and children's rooms: the walls should be painted with light or pastel colors so that they can easily change things if their tastes begin to develop. It may also discourage them from drawing on the walls if they are already bright colors. Nurseries are especially important because young ones are constantly developing new likes and dislikes, so it might require redecoration more often than in other parts of your house.
Kitchens should usually be decorated differently from bathrooms because they're used for two different activities. Bathrooms are generally treated as relaxation zones; kitchens, even though they're often relaxing and social spaces, should look more like a work area. It might be harder to "let go" in the kitchen than in the bathroom, so it may require less enjoyable colors such as blues or browns.
Being around certain colors can cause stress and anxiety levels to increase, which is why it's important to avoid using them if you ever want your house to feel inviting rather than suffocating. Green is a known color that causes this effect because of its association with money and financial concerns. Deep purples also have this effect, but lighter purples present in lavenders are known to have calming effects.
Can colors make people feel energetic? - It's not just certain colors that can impact moods, it's how bright they are as well. Bright colors generally make people feel happy and energized because of their association with rays of sunlight and warmth. This is why white rooms often appear bigger than darker ones; the lightness makes them look larger than they actually are.
Babies and infants need to be around softer colors such as blues and greens instead of reds and purples because they have been known to cause distress. Also, elderly people may be less comfortable in bright rooms with lots of windows because the light is too harsh for their eyes or simply makes them feel uncomfortable.

Painting trim, doors, and windows
If you're looking to add more color to your home without spending too much money, painting the trim on the doors and windows is one of the cheapest alternatives. Just keep in mind that this process can be time-consuming because it requires lots of patience due to all of the nooks and crannies associated with every window.
One option for people who don't want their house painted entirely is to simply choose a few different colors dependent on which room they are painting. Some colors can make a room feel brighter while others are better for creating a more soothing effect, so it's best to choose which type of color you want depending on where you're using them. For example, bedrooms should be painted with calming colors instead of bright hues because this is something that people associate with peace and relaxation. Alternatively, children's rooms should contain more lively shades since they provide an atmosphere that encourages creativity and fun.
Painting interior doors don't need to involve the same kind of precision as painting walls or windows since there aren't any cracks or crevices worth worrying about covering up completely.
Painting exterior doors and windows is similar to interior ones except you probably need more than just a single coat of paint due to exposure to rain and other environmental factors. One alternative is using a semi-transparent primer before painting over it with your chosen shade and then applying another layer afterward for additional protection against damage.
Tips for painting a room
The act of painting the room is pretty simple, but there are still some tricks you can use to get better results.
- Know your colors! If possible, buy paint samples or at least enough to test out on a relatively secluded spot (e.g., behind the cupboard) before painting an entire wall.
- Choose colors that look good together; ideally, each side of a wall should have a color from different groups!-The main colors used when painting rooms are the following: blue, green, yellow, and orange.
-  Don't skimp on a primer! It will make your job a lot faster by filling in any imperfections in the wall, sealing pores, and preventing latex from seeping into them. If possible, use oil-based primer even for water-based paints because it's better at blocking stains from bleeding through -Priming is necessary when you're painting over a dark color, heavily stained surface, or bare wood paneling/pressboard.
-  When choosing the roller cover: a) Use a natural fiber cover for water-based paint. b) Use a synthetic or foam roller cover when painting with oil-based paint. c) In the case of textured walls, use short nap rollers instead of brushes to avoid leaving behind visible brush strokes.--The length of nap you'll need depends on the type of texture that your wall has: if it's flat then choose a long nap roller, look at how it is divided in half, and keep in mind that you want 2/3 of the fibers to stick out from the roller.
-  When choosing a brush: a) For smooth surfaces, use a bristle or nylon brush.-Bristle brushes are good for cutting in around window frames and baseboards because they don't leave visible lines like nylon ones.
-  When painting, start at the top left of the wall and move from right to left with your brush/roller.-This way you'll be able to control how much paint gets on the wall as you're working, reducing the risk of getting an uneven coat if you start from the bottom up. Also, avoid going back over what you've just painted-this will.
-  To cut a line in a steady hand: a) Dip a clean finger or a scissor blade into some dishwashing soap. b) Press down on the edge of your paint bucket near where you want to cut it open.-This will attach a little bit of soapy water to the edge of the bucket, making it easier for you to make a clean cut.
-  To determine if your paint is dry, lightly scratch an inside corner with your fingernail.- If it's not dry then the color will scrape off.
-  If painting over wallpaper, remove the baseboards first because they're almost always glued down and hard to remove after removing wallpaper below them.
