While there are many differences between a landscape architect and landscape designer, the two terms tend to be used interchangeably. Design is in every phase of the project from site analysis and planting design, to hardscaping or garden layouts. Landscape designers use their knowledge of plants, ecosystems, materials science and other topics related to the environment and social responsibility when designing sites for public space. Landscape architecture can also be thought of as an emerging discipline that attends not just to single-site projects but urban landscapes in general (as well as horticulture). A new generation of designers is embracing an architecture-like approach by addressing not just a specific site but also linking it into larger regional themes such as watersheds or vernacular building.

A landscape designer deals with the plants and other elements of a garden. They use their knowledge, skills, creativity, and experience to design outdoor areas around homes in such a way that it accommodates the needs of the residents, enhances property values in the area, and helps protect environmentally fragile sites. In short - this work can be exceptionally rewarding. Many people make a living providing landscaping services to homeowners as well as corporations like commercial developments and college campuses. A landscape designer could also become involved in creating show gardens designed solely for aesthetic purposes or as part of an exhibition project at an arboretum or botanical garden as opposed to being on someone's personal property.

This is a broad question, but I hope to be of some assistance. There are many different types of landscaping, and those who make their living in this field need to know what their niche is. For example: garden design, landscape architecture, garden architecture (public spaces), etc. Landscape designers work on sites that range from large estates with elaborate gardens and lawns to small urban or suburban residential areas where the owner's goal may be a peaceful retreat for relaxation or family activities. Working knowledge of the principles of ecology provides insight into improving plant variety and health for natural effects desired by homeowners as well as creating habitat opportunities for beneficial wildlife such as butterflies and birds.

Yes. Landscape Design is the creative art and practical skill of designing landscape architecture, both public and private outdoor spaces - many of which can be arboreta or botanical gardens. Keep in mind that for extreme custom design, the price tag may not be all too friendly to your wallet because they rely on availability with plants and other materials as well as their own time frame for construction. Landscape design is a challenging and rewarding profession that has broad appeal. From parks to restaurants to residential homes, landscape designers have an important role in shaping environments for today's living. Principles of good design are derived from an understanding of site features. Identification of user needs; knowledge about plant materials; study into historic styles.

There are three things to think about when you're designing a new landscape; growing zones, microclimates and soil amendments. When you do your research, keep these three things in mind. If you like the look of native plants, then more do some research on where those same types of plants will grow in your area (although this isn't always fool-proof). If space is at a premium for you, then pay attention to "low" water plant and ground cover options - there are many available that still require little or no watering depending on sun exposure and care.

Landscape design is more than just designing a garden or the surrounding nature- it's about understanding how to work with the outdoor living area holistically. It is important to create an outside space that complements and incorporates your home as well as being practical, environmentally friendly, and timeless. It becomes even more complicated when you are trying to conserve water in the outdoors and limit your use of fossil fuels for power. Part of becoming a certified designer involves taking courses on sustainable design that emphasize using local plants in one’s designs; xeriscaping also contributes to this by reducing maintenance needs without compromising beauty.
