One of the best ways to learn about interior and landscape design is a certification program like Landscape Design Academy. They teach classes for people who already have some experience or for those who are new to design.
This is a great solution if you want to get into this field right away or even begin your career as a designer. You may not know where the best schools are here in the US, but LDA's programs will provide you with all that information while teaching you about both landscapes and interiors which can be very useful when working on both types of projects.

What kind of designer are you interested in learning interior design, architecture, or landscape design? Landscape designers need to know how to work with materials like rocks and plants. Architects need detailed knowledge about construction sites. Professional architects will likely be involved in several aspects of the designing process including conceptualizing the building's design, drawings, specs and finally working with contractors. Architectural firms may also employ interior designers who specialize on understanding how space should function for humans. Architecture students spend a lot more time drawing than actually physically "building" projects because they learn from studying models that use scaled-down dimensions as well as previous designs by famous architects all around the world.

You can learn about interior design by attending one of the many seminars, classes, and lectures available online or through a mailing list subscription service such as Interior Design Forum. Some universities offer undergraduate degree programs in residential design which might be a worthwhile investment if you are serious about becoming an interior designer. If not, you should start with learning how to sketch, which is what designers do when first getting started.

Interior design programs are generally college-level courses, so make sure to research the best schools in the country for studying interior design.
Studying interior design includes courses on art, architecture and geometry. Interior designers should also be conversant with technology (especially CAD software), business and marketing skills, branding principles and consumer behaviour patterns. Beyond these more technical requirements, creative ability is a must for any successful designer—an eye for trends coupled with strong organisational skills will enable you to communicate your vision clearly to clients.

Interior designers study art, interior design, and architecture in school. They learn about many aspects of these topics by working on different projects for clients. Interior designers also meet with their clients to see what they like and dislike so that the designer can plan a space that will make them happy.
An important skill an interior designer has is being good at listening to the client's needs and requests to find out how best to create a space for them. Many people take evening classes or attend workshops throughout the year as well as reading books for continuing education so they can continue learning new ideas and tools which may be helpful with future projects.
