There are many pathways to becoming a landscape designer. One of the more common routes is through Community College or Vocational School, which usually takes about 2 years. After that, people will often continue their education by working as an intern at a landscaping firm for up to a year in order to get hands-on experience. An aspiring interior designer would also go through this process, only they would pursue vocational school or community college in interior design and work towards licensure before taking on an internship at a firm.

Well, it depends on whether you are an interior designer that wants to focus in landscape design or if you would like to go into teaching. If you plan to teach then the process is a lot shorter than if not.
If I were asking how long does it take for someone to become an interior designer with landscape design skills, then my answer would be two years of schooling or the equivalent amount of work experience combined with professional training and some schools offer this now too. Bottom line, it's best for people who want a career in design and communities where help is needed because designers make less money in metropolitan areas and locatable work isn't always there when they do need jobs.

It takes about five years to become a landscape designer and around ten years for interior design.
Landscape designers will typically have a degree or job experience in horticulture, botany, ecology and environmental studies. Interior designers are often trained who study architecture, art history, dance and chaos – though the list of requirements varies depending on the level of specialization such as residential or commercial design. So it's important to choose wisely when deciding what area you want to work in because fields like journalism require fewer years of training whereas certain university programs would only take two-years where interior designers need 10-years.

If one completes the requirements for a bachelor's degree in landscape design, he or she will be ready for work less than four years after starting college. Before beginning interior design, one must have at least earned an associate's degree in the field and completed at least two years of technical education courses or education sequences. Once this is done, it should take about two to three years to complete a bachelor's degree program. You may also need to complete certification programs in order to practice independently within your jurisdiction and/or state.

I am not sure how you define "long" or how long it takes to become a landscape designer in other countries, but according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, it usually takes six years to become an accredited landscape architect. So typically, after graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, it follows that each person would then need a minimum of three years to work as an intern under the supervision of experienced licensed architects and engineers while earning architectural credentials.

As an industry, there is no set amount of time it takes to become a landscape designer. However, on average it takes about 2-4 years. The time varies depending with the type of field and how much hands on work they want to do themselves or have other people help them. It has an average job growth rate in American as 4% per year so you never know what might happen.
