I am not kidding when I say that Mimi Doe needs to be on this list. Her intimate, modern spaces are impossibly cool. Problem is her rates are outrageous. Erika Adams of E Studio has some fantastic ideas coming out next year including some installations for NYC's Bronx Academy of Arts and Letters! You can also see some of her collaborations with artists like Jorge Mendez-Ruibal in galleries around the world now, but pay attention because she will bring all of those lessons into client work soon! Catch up on both urban interventions and large scale projects by following her Instagram account @erikadAdams or visiting erikaddesignstudio.

Designers are already being discussed among industry insiders, so there's no way of knowing for sure. But the talk seems very positive, so I would assume that interior designers will be doing well in 2021. Contestant number one is Peter Dunham, who designed the homes of Barack Obama while he was President and recently opened a traveling exhibit on his work at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C., focusing on modern design. He is consistently wowing audiences with his brilliant yet unfussy use of space and material to achieve authentic yet timeless environments infused with personality.

So, are interior designers 2020's most in-demand professionals, or has this trend passed us by? Let's take a look. Many designers are preparing for 2021 already. Whitney Hess advises on different ways to think about organizing layouts for new projects coming onstream in preparation for the next design wave. Casey Meketa advises creating an open floor plan layout because many people today want truly liveable spaces that don't require multiple large rooms and formal dining rooms. And Thomas Phifer Architects advise designing well-organized spacing because the pressures of space that come with designing office space is made more than just about aesthetics, but also functionality and workability.
