Wi-Fi, with its ability to provide a strong signal with no costs in energy and manpower, has actually proved valuable to design firms. It has helped distance designers from the office and allowed instant collaboration when getting feedback on designs. To be honest, for home design services such as things like renovation or new builds, there really is no need for Wifi per se - many construction sites don't even have connectivity. For an interior designer however it can be useful - after all you still want to collaborate with your team during projects and upload progress pictures (perhaps shoot live videos of sessions).

Yes, there are a number of products that simply will not work without a wireless connection. Thermostats, smart locks, HVAC systems, and more all have features that leverage wireless connectivity to improve efficiency and provide additional functionality. A typical designer would know this as many of these items were designed by the same company so as to work with one another as an ecosystem. Of course, there is also the intangible aspect of working on a project that can be completed anywhere in the world - adding wifi anything is nearly always worth it!

Home design does not need wifi, but there are many reasons builders and designers will use it. It's important to note that wifi-connected homes don't equal "hackable" homes. WiFi has been around for a few decades now and is not going anywhere--it can be used in the future for any number of things. Wi-Fi allows us to stay connected remotely rather than having to stand right next to one another in order to speak on the phone or exchange data over Bluetooth or cable wires.

Yes. WiFi signals can be transmitted through walls and this means this information can be accessed remotely. This technology saves lives during natural disasters like Hurricane Sandy, when WiFi was accessible to millions of people living in New York City. Telecommuters will also benefit because they don't have to make the commute each day; they save on energy costs for travel, there's less time away from family, and hopefully less anxiety because it feels like one is always present at the office. Personal benefits may include more work-life balance for parents who need to drop kids off at school or stay close if their other parent is sick; more time commuting with their carpooling friends instead of getting plain bored on a train or plane!

Of course it does. Information has created an era of "what's next?" With all the new technology available, your home should reflect your desire to be connected with what is trending in the world- not just inside your four walls. Technology today lets us do all sorts of things from the comfort of our own homes, using our personal WiFi networks. Allowing technology to dictate design decisions for you, will ensure that you are fully immersed into a bright future where convenience and elegance are within easy reach. There are questions about how much Wi-Fi radiation can affect people but so far they have been inconclusive.

Yes. Millennials demand a way to be connected to the world in their homes, and Wi-Fi is what they need. The smart home space is booming with startups pouring in foundation in 2017, taking advantage of growing engineering talent and bootstrapping from friends. More than 1 million households will have a smart device by 2022-and that's just one front of the warring internet giants signing up for this fight. Home design needs wifi - connection to the world at all times!
