SketchUp will not. Google SketchUp will not open a DWG file, and depending on the format of the drawing inserted into Google Sketch up (DWG, PDF, etc) it is unlikely that files in different formats can be exchanged between the two programs. There is an online conversion service available at Autodesk 360 DWG to SKP which might be able to provide assistance with your conversion needs. But this leaves me wondering if there's a way I can get my designs from sketchup to dwg? I'm going with yes because you're already asking for help in getting your designs from sketchup to dwg so keep reading!

SketchUp may open DWG files. However, importing them will be difficult and you will probably end up having to recreate your drawings in SketchUp. It's possible that SketchUp can import DWG files, but it is unlikely that this tool would import them without any changes. You may need to convert your drawing from one program to the other first so there aren't any compatibility issues between the two programs. If you want to use a different software and avoid these issues altogether, then AutoCAD or Fusion360 should work just fine for these purposes - they'll both import DWG files just as needed!

Sketchup is an architectural 3D design and rendering application. It was formerly developed by @Google and now, due to mistrust among designers for Google's acquisition of the program, Sketchup has been reborn as a product from Trimble. However, after that transitional period in its development cycle, Sketchup underwent another transition in which the file format changed drastically and it became difficult to save projects in .skp format even if you used "Save As" when exporting your project. The good news is that opening dwg files with sketchup appears to be working just fine ! Otherwise it will open polylines only so they can't really be saved .obj _________________.

answer: Sketchup cannot open dwg, it can only import dwg files into sketchup. Google SketchUp has many formats that users may try to load into the program, one being DWG files. Though Google SketchUp cannot open DWGs natively, you can alternatively import them by downloading a free plugin for Google SketchUp called the 3DS export extension which allows other programs to print in mass number of other formats like Step Files. The best version of this plugin for use with Google SketchUp is DXFtoSKP-3DExtension-v243-43.6z (created by Fredo6). As always, feel free to comment or ask questions below if there's anything unclear!

Sketchup does support exporting to the DWG format. However, there are many things I would recommend before doing so. First, you have to remember that DWG is a very old file type developed by AutoCad for its software in 1991. There has been lots of important changes since then and some parts of dwg's structure will not be recognized by newer versions; also this format is not programmatically readable (both on pc and mac). If you need to convert your dwg files back again, it will cost 5x more than converting from sketchup on average, though prices vary depending on how many hours of conversion required and labour rates in your area.

I am not 100% sure because it hasn't been tested yet. I am not 100% sure because it hasn't been tested yet. The DWG file format is yet to be incorporated into the SketchUp Pro application. There are cases where Sketchup will open files like DGN or HPGL, but this was rare and usually prompted by an invitation from someone who had created these types of files with the intention of sending them along to others for viewing (i.e., they're meant to be opened outside of sketchup).
