Sketchup where to find layers? The layers can be accessed by clicking on the Layers panel. Fill in the name of the layer and hoover over it with your mouse to see what was drawn with that layer. If you create a new layer, then select this unused layer with the paint brush tool before drawing anything into it. If you want to delete any existing layers, highlight them one at a time and hit Delete on your keyboard. To rename any of these currently named layers, double-click on its current name after highlighting it, enter your desired name for this original layer below it, and click outside of both fields when finished. Repeat as many times as necessary for every selected field's information given here!

The layers tool can be found on the top right-hand side of the page. To access all layers, click "Show All Layers" in the 'Layers' dropdown menu under 'SketchUp'. Selecting different types of display formatting (icons, polygons, textures) will reveal those type of personalized layers under "SketchUp". For example, select polygons to see layer's that contain tiles and/or shading only. Clicking on a layer with no additional icons will preview what it contains and how its effects is applied to your scene. Clicking on a square containing an eye icon will open up your current Sketchup model settings for editing.

It's easy to confuse layers with SketchUp Groups. They work in similar ways, but the difference is Groups are generally one-off groups of components that you save separately and reuse later in your project, while Layers are more like "buckets" where each layer contains exclusively what you see on screen at any given time (so far) in your model. Layers allow for completely different settings within the same scene, so each time you want to start a new design or create something entirely new, just go ahead and start fresh with a new layer! Under the View tab on the top menu bar there is an option called Layer Manager where all of your layers can be seen listed out hierarchically by their type.

Sketchup Layer Manager. The SketchUp Layering set of tools can be found in the Toolbox. Activate the Layering tool to see your Layers as a tree. To make changes to an existing or new layer, activate it and select or deselect layers from this list by clicking on their name or check boxes. You can move a layer up and down by selecting the Move Up or Move Down buttons at its left hand side. If you would like a particular layer to return to its original default state, select "Restore Default".
