The length of study is different for each field, which often depends on how thorough the design education wants to be. The degree requirements will vary greatly from place to place, so it is important to do some research before beginning your studies. When selecting a design program, you may find that programs that are intensive in nature - those with an accelerated curriculum duration and longer hours required per week - are more helpful if interior designs want to pursue private or commercial practice in their profession when they graduate.

You'll need at least an undergraduate degree in one of the following fields, but there's always room for people with other creative proclivities. Usually a four-year bachelor's degree in architecture or interior design. Occasionally you might go to school for two years and then get your master's degree as a graduate student. Middle ground is a minor subject plus freshman year of another major subject (plus two years of single majors). In rare occasions it is possible to do this while still in high school.

The duration of college varies depending on the university's requirements, but it can typically span four years. This is followed by two to six years as an intern before being eligible for licensure. In general, interior design kids are in school longer because they study more abstract ides while landscape architecture students concentrate on hard sciences such as soil mechanics and horticultural plant pathology that take a lot of hands-on experience to learn outside of academia. The degree for landscape architects is a master's degree after undergrad so they're in school five or six years, rather than four like most other majors.

It depends on the program. How long it is for an interior design degree ranges from two years to seven. Interior design is just one aspect of the profession, there are several different types of degree programs available like landscape architecture. The career has many opportunities and so it might be good to do your research to find out which type will work best for you before picking a college or university and spending time studying for something that you don't want to do in the end.
More information about what a career in interior design entails can be found here and more information about education requirements can be found here which shows that some colleges may offer either three year undergraduate degrees in landscape architect or four year graduate degrees.
