Interior design has two main branches. These are project management and space design. Project management involves creative leadership which produces a single design for the client. Space design leans more towards artistry that involves interpreting what is most important to the client and fitting all of their needs, wants, desires and limitations into one fluid unified flow in the room or area assigned to them. Space Designers have a wide range of responsibilities that span color theory, contemporary styles, natural world with an ecological sensibility to lighting technology applications and computer-aided drafting skills known as CADs which are some of the most integral parts of their job...Project managers need strong interpersonal and communication skills such as listening well and paraphrasing without distorting information.

Interior design is the art of understanding how people live and responding with inspirational, creative ways of using space, light, shape and color. Interior designers do more than just updating homes. They select colors that make a particular room feel cooler in the summer or warmer in winter, they plan layouts to accommodate social occasions from intimate dinners for two to big family gatherings; they select furniture and furnishings which blend well with your lifestyle as well as with your home's style.

Nowadays, interior design is a broad spectrum of different fields including architecture, furniture and product design. So what does an Interior Designer do exactly? That depends on the qualifications and expertise of the designer. At the most basic level, they select colors or fabrics to please their customer’s taste; at its highest level, it could be anything from designing a home theatre room to building an entire structure with their client’s input. One might also find themselves required to renovate a space after natural disasters such as hurricanes or fires have caused damages that needed repairs.

Interior design has 3 major parts:
The most well-known type of interior designing is residential or commercial interior decoration, in which designers use their knowledge of color and form to guide the layout and conduct improvements on interiors. Designers can be called upon by meetings planners as a "resource" to design space for events including galas and conferences, often with an emphasis on aesthetics over functionality.
Industrial designers create products ranging from home appliances to automobiles; again their work must be functional as well as aesthetically pleasing, because a corporate manager cannot sell something that does not function properly.
