The best way to know what's available at a school is to go there and talk with an admissions officer. But, I can tell you that all you need is a degree in interior design from any institution recognized by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), which is American Institute of Designation. They are located in the headquarters in Memphis Tennessee, but offer programs for learning through correspondence courses and residential campus locations. A popular university with our clients is Academy of Art University out of San Francisco, California.

One such school is the University of Maryland, with a Bachelors Degree in Interior Design and Environmental Planning and an undergraduate program based on project-based learning as well as skills training through workshops. There are quite a few colleges in the United States that offer interior design programs. The Massachusetts College of Art and Design's Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program offers concentrations in industrial design, product design, and graphic communication design - as well as courses in interior and furniture design. It also has study abroad options available with classes held at partner universities internationally.
MIT's Master in Architecture is another school to consider for those who want to go into the theoretical aspects of architecture while Stanford Hwkins University offers an MFA program for those looking to teach art or develop their own artistic practice. And USC School of Architecture has both a Bachelor Degree and Master Degree programs offered-the latter of which is done through on-campus instruction.

A lot of people recommend Cornell University, Parsons The New School for Design, and Harvard University.
US News ranked Cornell University as the 6th best in America for designing sustainably-built homes. Their interior design department is highly competitive and students go through a rigorous vetting process that includes an interview.
The interior design graduate program at Parsons The New School of Design was proactively redesigned to alleviate many criticisms that were levied against it previously - especially its lack of focus on the professional practices participants would be able to take with them after graduation.
Harvard University’s Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture offers undergraduate degrees in both Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning.
