The profession of interior design is an immense field that has a major impact on our day-to-day lives. Interior designers are experts at designing, ordering, coordinating and maintaining the interiors of any building or space. They not only have to consider what will look good but also how things will work for their clients; after all there's no point in using ten beautiful chairs if they're too heavy for anyone to move. The job often involves complicated tasks such as budget management and procurement regarding construction materials and other goods, together with customer relations skills that can be required to liaise between the client's wishes and those of contractors.

Interior designers are highly educated professionals who use their skills to improve the quality of people's lives. They are renowned for their creativity as they play with space, light, and materials in order to create desired moods or highlight certain features of a space. They help shape our environment and how we feel about it creating environments that serve their occupants' lifestyles and desires.
While any hobbyist can make an improvement to one's surroundings by organizing furniture differently or purchasing an inspiring mat for the entryway, interior designers are distinguished because they understand what psychological effect each design decision will have such as how deep-colored fabrics may stimulate the appetite or a narrow seat arrangement can make guests more intimate when conversing face-to-face.
