There are very few universities in South Africa that offer degrees in interior design, so the information you want is scattered among a range of unrelated disciplines. There are 2 listed on our database, and they both could have what you're looking for -
    - De Montfort University offers a Bachelor of Arts Interiors with Interior Design modules.
    - Natal Technikon offers a B Eng (Hons) Construction Engineering Technology Post Graduate Diploma for those already qualified as engineers or technologists which provides 20 credit points towards an MEng (Construction) degree in Architecture and Building Science.

CPUT offers a Bachelor of Sciences in Interior Design, with elective choices such as furniture design and textile design. CPUT students have also been prominent on the international stage, winning awards for their innovative future-forward designs.
UCT offers degrees in interior architecture that qualify you for a professional qualification and registration with the Cape Institute of Architects (C(AI)). Their course features modules on landscape architecture which will stand you in good stead should you decide to take up home renovation or property management too.
At other institutions, it is possible to pursue this degree by undertaking an internship course at an interior design firm after completion of bridging courses at more general universities, such as Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

There are tertiary institutions in South Africa that offer design-related courses, including its own Museums School of Arts and Design. However, you cannot directly study interior design at any schools in South Africa unless you are enrolled through distance education programmes or online courses. If you have a particular interest in interior design, then studying architecture could be the path for you to take. Courses on how to furnish a room also might be available at some universities across the country.
