Typically, an interior designer is seen as a multi-faceted professional who possesses knowledge and the ability to plan, manage, design, construct or supervise projects from conception to completion. These projects often include the layout of areas for commercial purposes or other uses such as residential living and gardening. Some people get degrees in interior design without having any interest in construction and just take on the act of being a middle person between someone with expertise in building (carpentry) and someone with expertise in decoration (graphic design). A lot of times these student will use their degree to secure an entry level position at an Indy firm that fills both roles.
