It is a good idea to study as much design and art history as possible, architecture (or just plain old math) - for scaling furniture and planning their layouts, maybe some human anatomy too so you can understand what impact furniture placement will have. You should also do a lot of freelance work before actually transitioning into the industry.
In order to become an interior designer there are several things that you need in order to be successful. Firstly, one must study design intently because that is going to be your job duty and without it your services are almost pointless. Secondly, if time permits learn more about technology like AutoCad or CAD so you're able to draft out your own designs on the computer.

In order to become an interior designer, one needs to have considerable knowledge and training in different disciplines. Interior design is not a profession that can be learned in shortcuts or from books alone. This is why internships are also very important for people who want to work as an interior designers.
Attention span is the most important factor if someone wants to succeed in this field. With a stable concentration power, it will be easier for people to learn new things and put into practice all they learn. In conclusion, when it comes down to the most fundamental skills of being a good designer, it all begins with perseverance and focus on details of how things are done right so that there will not be any mistakes at anytime in the project.

The interior design profession is an ever-changing and diverse field. Almost any academic concentration can lead to a career as an interior designer, but the ones most commonly taken are in art education, fine arts, or painting and drawing, while others have begun careers after studying business management, event planning and other applied fields.

Interior Designers need previous experience in studio art, math, biology or chemistry. They also need to complete an intensive classroom study program and participate in a 250-hour apprenticeship.
