When it comes to interior design, successful designs mainly depend on how the designer understands your lifestyle. This is because what looks good for one person might not look so good for another.
Therefore, no two people are alike enough that their spaces would be identical, even if they live in the same house. So whatever you do in terms of selecting furniture and decorations, do it with what works best for you in mind— not what someone else likes better than you or thinks will work better for you.

A good interior designer is someone who can be trusted to consider the needs and tastes of a family before putting together decorative plans. It's not enough to know color schemes, or how many bookshelves are needed for a living room. The best designers ask questions about what type of living space is desired, who will live in the space, and what hobbies they might partake in while at home. An experienced designer will take into account everything from an individual's preferences with colors or types of furniture to safety regulations such as how well baby gates prevent access to stairs or how necessary it may be to install glass instead of mirrors in bathrooms.

Good interior design incorporates an individual's personal interests and style with the space. Space can be divided up, to open it up (or close it off), and make it feel larger or smaller. It can have a livelier look by incorporating furniture without so many walls, matching colors for fabrics on chairs or pillows, or making small windows less noticeable with fabric around them. Ultimately everything you do in order to take an empty space and breathe life into it has some effect in your moods and emotions.
