I am an interior designer and have been using Sketchup for a few years. I started out with Sketchup Make 2016, but I am a new user to this platform so may not be able to offer much help as far as features or tutorials unless you are beginner level. If you are interested in interior design, I recommend SketchUp Pro 2018 so that you can incorporate accurate measurements of your furniture into your drawings instead of having to guess at sizes based on proportions. And lastly, if you're just looking for something basic to start out with like drawing rooms and cutting edges then go ahead and download Sketchup Make (it's free). You got nothing else to lose.

The first thing you should do is download and install the SketchUp software from the official website. Once it has downloaded, open up the folder and click on "Start Installation". Input your name and email (this will be used to identify your copy of SketchUp) then click on next. You are now asked for a place to store your installation - choose anywhere for this example and then click Next. read through all terms before clicking "I have read through all terms" and finally by clicking finish installation.

I recommend you download the free trial of SketchUp at this link, and watch some tutorials like these. Keep practicing. The majority of interior designers use SketchUp to design their spaces scaled for any size space. They might want to show that a table would fit with the couch in a living room or layouts for an outdoor event. It used by more people than you think because it is very easy and versatile on your laptop or phone when you are trying to visualize do-it-yourself projects or remodeling projects before they happen. It'll take some time but once you have gotten through the basic tutorials, there's unlimited resources all over the internet!
