I believe you have a very creative and imaginative mind, and our profession will harness those skills.

Creativity is the core of what we do. We are architects, designers, artists, craftsmen, engineers: an entire community constantly innovating for more livable environments. This innovation happens by designing spaces in innovative ways to make them better fit your lifestyle needs. People might often say they want clean lines or no clutter - but they don't know how to articulate it until they see it on paper or electric renderings of their dream house design ideas.

This is a difficult question for me to answer because it's tied so closely to the author - elaborating on "why" one might want to become a designer. I can say that I am studying design because I love making things and paying attention to detail in all aspects, especially in home life. Like many people with this calling, my search turned inward and eventually led me back into interior design- but that was not the original intent when I applied at MATC to be a graphic designer- even though back then everything made sense when put together. But now years later, I have come full circle...or rounded square!

I am studying to be a designer because it is my passion to create spaces that comfortable, warm and welcoming.

Every project is carefully planned with the end result in mind. I want my clients to walk away from their project relax in their surroundings and know they have entrusted me with such an important responsibility. Achieving this goal requires careful attention at each step of the process, including decision-making, budgeting and execution; there are many considerations that are conditional on one another and require a responsive, equally thoughtful approach throughout-- both before construction begins (planning & strategy) as well as during (concept & implementation).

Personal reasons, the potential to work for myself and others. I love the design process, from conception to reality; a product or even life itself. Designing is about making efficient use of our time and leveraging experience from behind-the-scenes knowledge for successful execution. My focus in residential design was born out of my need as a property manager to create beautiful spaces for tenants that might not have been able to afford them otherwise. Taking pride in what I do every day no matter what it is feels like an accomplishment worth chasing.

I am studying to be a designer because I enjoy working with my hands. Designing is part of the creative process in which you take something and turn it into something beautiful or functional. There are many types of design: graphic design, webdesign, and industrial design for example. I studied all those fields at school and decided that interior design was what I wanted to do! (Also because there's more room for creativity in it!) Working as an interior designer would allow me teach people how objects create the environment around them - how colors make us feel different things, how layout affects moods, etc.
