For a living room with 10-foot ceilings, we have found greater success when the furnishings are a minimum of 29" tall. This will provide an appropriately proportioned and casual living space. If you have 8-foot ceilings, then 25" is enough to be proportional considering the height of people with average height (5'6").
If you have 6-foot or shorter ceilings, then all furniture should be sized at a minimum of 27". For most couches, this means that they need to be sofas rather than chairs. Your apartment's limitations may mean that it is not possible for your home measurements to allow for such dimensions; nevertheless choosing appropriate dimensions for your rooms can make living spaces more comfortable and attractive.

This is a question with difficult answer because there are so many variables that go into it. It can range from the space you have to furniture styles or to whether your home has "traditional" or "modern" decorations. If you want to invest, I recommend talking with a professional interior designer because they know what is best suited for your specific situation.

Designing your living room furniture size needs to be a thoughtful process. It's easy enough to pick out the largest couch on the showroom floor, but take into account that you may not have a big enough space for it, or with sufficient doors that close completely for privacy. A smaller set will give you more area in your room where people can congregate and socialize while also giving everyone a chance to un-crowd around the television as necessary. With any set pieces used in your living room space be sure they are functional at both ends of light levels, from daytime brightness to nighttime intimacy.
Floors should support all levels of traffic including industrial, comfort , safety and sustainability.

You should consider the dimensions of your room and really see how many people will typically spend time in that room. Your furniture placement should exist so that people can generally be seated from one edge of the room to another.
People often underestimate how much space a seating arrangement will take up, especially for groups, which is why you want to plan it out before making the purchase.
