To use Sketchup for interior design, you need to be able to do the following:

-Use the basic tools to create and manipulate objects. These include the select tool, move tool, scale tool, rotate tool, and perspective tool.

-Create primitive objects such as lines, rectangles, circles, and polygons.

-Extrude and push/pull objects to give them thickness and turn them into 3D shapes.

-Use the orbit tool to rotate your view of the scene.

-Use the pan tool to move your view around without changing your perspective.

-Add materials to objects using the paint bucket tool or by importing images.

To use Sketchup for interior design, you'll need to be proficient in a few areas. For starters, you should know your way around the interface and basic tools. Secondly, you'll need to be able to create accurate 2D plans and elevations from which to model your designs. Thirdly, Sketchup is a great tool for visualizing space and layout, so being able to think in 3D is a definite plus. Finally, once you have your model built, being able to render it realistically will really tie everything together nicely.

First and foremost, you'll need a basic understanding of 3D modeling principles in order to use Sketchup for interior design. This means having a good grasp of concepts like furniture placement, room proportions, scale, and so on. Once you have a firm understanding of these basics, you can move on to learning how to use Sketchup itself.
