Learning Sketchup is difficult, but it can be easier to learn if you're practicing for a specific profession. If you're an interior designer, then it's probably not as hard because architects usually use Sketchup to design buildings. Since interior designers work with the space between buildings, they often need to know how other people designed their building so they can replicate what they've already learned or get inspiration in order to design and decorate their space more beautifully.
What's most important when learning any new technical skill is that you pick your battles wisely and start with smaller projects before moving on to bigger ones.

At its core, Sketchup simplifies design by removing all unnecessary detail that might get in the way of representation or impede easy construction. It also provides a seamless workflow between 2D layouts that can easily be interpreted as 3D models, and vice versa through a process called “reconstruction”.

Sketchup is not difficult to learn, it just takes a lot of perseverance. The tutorial videos are easy to follow and they illustrate the drawings/concepts well.
It is true that you might hit a snag or two along the way, but patience will help you rise above all the bumps in the road. Sketchup doesn't have many shortcuts so if you don't want to spend the time learning then maybe this software isn't for you!
