I would recommend pleated curtains for a living room. These are easy to hang and provide more light permeability than drawn-back curtains. I personally have a brown one with geometric patterns on it, but in the images below you will see some great ones as well!
In addition, I would suggest buying faux drapes if you want your windows to be covered at night. They can easily turn into decorative window alternatives for the daytime hours that will lend an artistic touch to any occasion.

-Do you want your curtains to be sheers, in order to let natural light and views into the room? -Do you want a lined curtain so that the sunlight is blocked but views from outside are prevented from shining in onto household items or furniture? -Or do you want some standard old fashioned curtains that hangs down all around the windows, regardless of whether or not there are any objects on which it might shine through the window?

Of course, the curtains in a living room are dependent on the style of the decoration or design. Curtains may be one of many components to choose from, but there are three different types that would work well for any style:
A solid main curtain is good if you want to create symmetry and balance in the space. The valance underneath will help diffuse direct light coming through window too. A striped curtain is great for creating a sense of depth and personalized privacy options - these make it difficult to see what's happening past them when they're closed. Finally, a patterned solid curtain could be just what your man cave needs!

If you are looking to make the living room a calm and relaxing space for you and your guests, consider going with thick, light-blocking curtains on the windows. This will help transform your room into an intimate area of comfort without too much effort - all you need is to close the curtains halfway while in use.
As a bonus, this type of style allows for insulation from noise that comes from outside the house. It also gives homeowners more privacy during conversations or doings by placing themselves away from drafts of any sort like sunlight which can be more prevalent with other styles.
