Landscape architects typically need a bachelor's degree.
Landscape architects usually receive a 4-year degree in landscape architecture as their focus, but there are other options such as only taking undergraduate courses or transferring and getting an associate's degree in another related field. There are also graduate level programs that provide students with two bachelor degrees. For some jobs, you'll need to have the knowledge to design for different species of plants or be familiar with parks management methods. If you're considering schools for this position, consider researching the program requirements and each school's graduates' employment rate before deciding on one best for you.

It depends on what your preference is. There are some associate degrees in Landscape Architecture, but a Bachelor's in Landscape Architecture would be more costly and take much longer time to complete. However, the degree usually makes people 2-3 times as qualified when applying for jobs.
I would recommend doing an Associate Degree in Landscape Design with a focus on plants and planting design or construction management with a landscaping emphasis before continuing on to Bachelors at one of these universities: Georgia Tech University, Ohio State University, or Auburn University since they have high rankings for their landscape architecture programs.

In most provinces of Canada, it is possible to become a Licensed Landscape Architect by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture degree. In Alberta, however, one must first obtain an undergraduate degree with emphasis in Architecture and then complete any additional requirements from the province's academic landscape architecture program to receive licensure. Degree programs typically last between four and six years; there are also two-year programs for those seeking fast-track careers. While education is not required to become a Landscape Architect (only registration), acquiring an accredited Associate's or Bachelor's degree greatly increases employment opportunities.

If you want to have a job as a landscape architect, you need some kind of degree. This type can be anything from a bachelor's degree all the way up to an advanced degree such as MBA or MD. In order to get this position on your resume there are colleges that offer specific degrees in landscape architecture with coursework like Landscape Graphics, Landscape Planning and Construction Techniques. It really doesn't matter what degree it is, just that it fits with the requirements for the profession. There aren't any specific schools or programs for design only-it's more about case by case basis and how much academic work someone wants.

To get a license, you will need to complete the following degree landscape architect requirements
    - 5 years experience (working in either landscaping or architecture)
    - Graduate from an accredited institution with a bachelor of science in Landscape Architecture
If you want to do something other than being licensed, then check out the website for The American Society of Landscape Architects and see if they have any resources for unlicensed professionals.
