SketchUp is a 3D modeling software that lets you turn your ideas into real objects. You can easily sketch designs for furniture, make a miniature town with buildings, or create something as complex as a highway interchange bridge. Use SketchUp to build on the web and share with other people in your team, such as architects and engineers.

That really depends on the profession. Autocad is primarily used for engineering, interfaces and layouts for projects like houses and hotels. Sketchup has been my software of choice when it comes to 3D modeling as well as architectural design, 3D printing, visualizations and animations.
So if you're in a field such as engineering where CAD is essential then Autocad would be the better option - but if you're an architect or designer then Sketchup should do you just fine.

Autocad is the professional grade CAD software for industrial design, and is more accurate and allows for better detailing. Sketchup is a 3D modeling program that's great for simple designs, but Autocad does so much more. Sketchup uses an intuitive interface that helps you draw shapes with one click on your mouse, while Autocad seems to be more about memorization of keyboard commands à la MS Paint or using Inkscape. This means that it takes less time to learn sketchup than it does autocad. If you're just starting out learning how to use graphics programs, I'd recommend using sketchup over autocad since sketchup will teach you some really basic skills.

It depends on what you're looking for. Autocad is a more "exact" design application, while sketchup is more oriented towards 3D modeling.
If you want to build things, then SketchUp will be really helpful. If you want to make blueprints for construction or architecture - obviously the answer is Autocad! But if you need tools to innovate or just get an idea of something quickly - Sketchup leaves autocad in the dust. It's free, easy and fast -- what else could you ask for?

It depends on what type of work you will be doing.
Sketchup and Autocad are both programs that can be used to design buildings. Sketchup is a simple CAD program that does not have many useful features for architects, while Autocad is generally more user-friendly and includes the outlines of the latest industry standards. Ultimately, it depends on what you plan to do with whichever tools you decide on since there are benefits and drawbacks to each.
