Do you think interior design is a field that can be self-taught, or do you think an education is necessary?

There are a lot of different opinions on this topic, but the general consensus seems to be that it depends on what kind of interior design you want to do. If you're interested in doing basic design work, then you can probably self-teach. However, if you want to do more specialized work (like designing hotel rooms or high-end homes), then you'll likely need formal training.
That being said, there are plenty of online resources and classes available that can teach you the basics of interior design. So if you're motivated and willing to put in the extra effort, then self-teaching is definitely an option.

Interior design is definitely a field that can be self-taught! There are so many online resources (blogs, articles, videos) that can teach you the basics of interior design. And if you're ever stuck on a particular design question, there are always online forums and communities where you can get feedback and advice from other designers.
That being said, I think it's always helpful to have some formal training in interior design (especially if you want to work as a professional designer). Some great options for formal training include community colleges, art schools, or online courses.

There's no simple answer to this question. Some interior design concepts can definitely be learned on your own, while others may require the guidance of a professional.
That said, it's probably a good idea to attend an interior design school if you're serious about making a career in this field. A degree from an accredited institution will give you the training and skills you need to succeed as an interior designer. And while there's no substitute for real-world experience, many schools also offer internship programs that can provide you with valuable hands-on training.

It definitely can be self-taught to some extent, but there are certain things that you will only learn from an experienced professional. For example, I think it's important to have someone help you design a space that is both functional and looks good. You need to know the right proportions and how to use color and texture in order to create a pleasing effect. There's also the matter of knowing which furniture and accessories will work well in a given space. So while you can certainly learn a lot on your own, I think it's helpful to have someone with experience guide you through the design process.

I think it depends on what you want to do as an interior designer. If you're just looking to have a basic understanding of design principles and how to put together a room, then you can probably teach yourself. But if you want to be more creative or learn how to professionally decorate rooms, then you'll need some formal training.

It depends on what you want to do as an interior designer. If you want to be more of a decorator than an architect, then yes, self-taught is definitely an option. But if you want to design structures and buildings—essentially, create the layouts and plans for interior spaces—then you'll need formal training.
There are many great online courses these days that can teach you the basics of interior design, but it's important to remember that there are also many nuances to the field that can only be learned in a classroom setting. So if your goal is to become a professional interior designer, I would recommend getting a degree from an accredited school.
