interior design is a great profession for people who are interested in art, architecture, and/or fashion. But it's not all glamorous job sites and high-end clients. Here are some of the funniest or most memorable stories from my time as an interior designer:

    1. The time I realized that Post-it notes are a designer's best friend.

I was working on a commercial space project and the client wanted to see a lot of different layout options before deciding on one. So, I created dozens of different mockups using Post-it notes – on the walls, floors, ceilings...you name it! The client was so impressed with my work that they decided to go with one of the very first options

There are plenty of funny and memorable stories that come along with working in interior design! Here are just a few:

One time, I was working on designing a living room for a client and she really wanted a specific type of furniture. However, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't find anything that fit her vision or budget. She was getting frustrated with me and so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went out and bought the furniture myself and then created the rest of the room around it. She was shocked when she saw it but loved it in the end. It was definitely a memorable experience!

I have plenty of funny and memorable stories but one, in particular, stands out to me. I was working on the design for a hotel lobby and, as is often the case, the budget was tight.
The owners wanted a marble floor but we couldn't afford that much marble so we settled on using a lower quality stone.
During construction, one of the workers accidentally dropped a tool and it cracked one of the tiles.
We didn't have any extras so we had to start raiding other parts of the hotel for replacement tiles.
Eventually, we found some in the janitor's closet and were able to finish the job.

There are plenty of funny and memorable moments that come with being an interior designer. I remember one time when I was working on a project for a client who was very particular about her color schemes. She wanted everything to be either white or black, with no grey in between. So, we're in the middle of painting the walls white and she comes in to check on our progress. She looks around the room and then asks us if we can make the paint a little more "clean" looking. We had no idea what she meant, so we just stared at her blankly.

I remember one time when I was working as an interior designer for a family. The children were playing in the living room and somehow managed to get the furniture all wet. I ended up having to design a whole new living room around the water stains! It was definitely memorable, and the family still laughs about it to this day.

We've all had those moments where we've wished we could just disappear into the woodwork (or, in my case, fabric). Whether it's a slip of the tongue during a meeting with a client or tripping over a chair in front of a potential buyer, everyone has an embarrassing story or two from their time in the interior design world.

For me, one of the most memorable happened early on in my career. I was working on designing the interior of a high-end perfume store and was feeling very pleased with myself. The client had given me free rein to do whatever I wanted and I was confident that I had created something truly beautiful.
