A degree in Landscape Architecture is usually needed to land an entry-level position. Entry level jobs are available as internships or apprenticeships which provide the opportunity to learn what it takes to become a professional landscape designer.
An online course on landscaping can also further your learning by providing you with valuable insights into the skills required for this profession.
If you don't want to use school, take the time and explore the options that are out there, like all of these little things that I have compiled. They will help you make a good decision and find what satisfies your needs.

Make sure you get a degree in Landscape Architecture. It's the only landscape design to have because it combines classes in architecture, horticulture, and engineering.
Landscape Design isn't a specific professional discipline that requires technical training or a certification program. There are many career-minded individuals who have started their own successful companies without any design specialty credentials whatsoever - just an aptitude for creativity and knack for sustainable living practices! If you dream of creating breathtaking landscapes to complement your home, there is some good news: A bachelor's degree in horticulture, forestry or civil engineering might be all you need--without the expense of graduate degree programs.
