Modern time has a style of classical simplicity. This trend is exemplified by the use of geometric and organic shapes, strong lines and angles with no ornamentation. Some features in modern decoration are compressed symmetry, extended versatility, sharp contrast colours or monochrome palettes. All these trends are associated with an increased rationality in addressing environmental issues such as energy efficiency and eco-friendly materials. Although there are always exceptions to the rule - for example, hipsters who refuse to follow any of the design 'rules' because they see it as restrictive and conformity at its worst - but most people would agree that change is inevitable.

There's no singular definition for the "modern interior design" but it generally refers to a style that favors clean lines, open spaces, and neutral colors. Modern features include stylistic elements such as furniture with basic silhouettes or absence of ornamentation . Some people see Modernism as a way in which space is delivered through practicality and abstract forms of art without trying too hard to please the eye. Many designers are incorporating modern interior design principles into their work today because it creates a more sleek, contemporary feel. Simply put, if you're looking for something that's sharp, crisp and inspiring - then modern might be just right for you.

In general, modern interior design is characterized by simplicity of details or a lack of decoration. White is a popular color which symbolizes this concept and shows up in many rooms with plain lines and balanced proportions. Modern furniture in areas such as the living room or study are usually height-adjustable to fit any size person, without compromising sculpture or art hanging on walls.
An exception would be where some furnishings (usually for comfort) display patterns that speak to more than one style such as English country decorating combined with carefree touches of contemporary patio stringed furniture, pillows and throw blankets.
