Modern rustic design is a style in which homes have some traditional materials, such as acoustic tiles with ceramic tiles or beams with hardwood flooring. Other elements are also incorporated into the design, like mixed finishes for texture and more contemporary fixtures. It's a style that is both old fashioned and modern at the same time. The aim of designers in this "modern rustic" movement is to allow personality and natural warmth to shine through while still maintaining contemporary sophistication

In short, a type of interior design characterized by understated elegance with eastern touches and clean lines that balances function with aesthetics. A balance of tradition with a bold look and feel which deals in honesty. You can use different materials like bamboo, teak wood, etc. and it has to be combined really interestingly. Basically the main aim is to create a home which is transitional in its styling- one where you can break the rules bit by bit both in terms of form or function as per need.

Modern rustic design is a style in Interior Design that incorporates modern mixed with the natural characteristics of rustic materials. This style erupted due to the Appalachian, Shaker and Swedish monastic styles. The result is an aesthetic that continues to be popular today through both home decorating and commercial applications such as restaurants or retail outlets. Stylistically, it often includes rough, unfinished surfaces with carefully-aimed beams of light or simple elegance; a blend of state-of-the-art technology and stone fireplaces; as well as mixed furniture from classical Modern times with handcrafted pieces from traditional periods like the Mission and Art Deco periods (both circa 1925).

Modern rustic design is a trend in furniture and decor items that use natural materials such as hemp, cork, weathered wood and metal finishes. A real-life example of this home style can be seen on HGTV. Often many items are picked up at second hand stores to save money. This is a modern take on building houses using timber for the main structural components. The modern twist includes using materials such as steel beams or composite panels with metal cladding when constructing the roof of the house to maximise coverage area and reduce material cost by exploiting the strength properties of prefabricated modules assembled into various sections off site.

Modern rustic design is not the way many might think of it. It's not a cabin in the woods with logs and most definitely no ivy or moss on the walls. The aptly named 'rustic modern' was born out of a desire to celebrate the beauty found in raw materials without submitting to naturalism, which can make it difficult for certain demographics (and their budgets) to engage with. Instead, traditional textures like wood and stone are textured into designer finishes that make them workable within an office environment, all at low cost.

Modern rustic design is a combination of two seemingly opposite design styles. It balances the woodsy, natural characteristics of an outdoor cabin with the clean and industrial shapes often found in contemporary architecture. It can make for a very practical space where guests can find peace and tranquility when they spent time outside surrounded by nature.
