Interior design has become a popular topic over the last few years, both in the media and as a field. This is largely because many people now work from home, live in urban homes, or both and need to decorate and furnish their new space. However, it doesn't have to be done on your own. There are dozens of interior design jobs out there ranging from residential designers that work with individual clients on one-off houses to full-time positions like corporate designer where you might work across different international offices instead.

There are many ways that one can learn about interior design. One may seek out training through universities, colleges or art institutes that offer diplomas in the area of fashion design, which sometimes include a concentration in interior design or they may also find internships with designers to gain experience as well.
Another option is to research online courses and download e-books on desktops devices or stop by your nearest library and check out some books while there.
Some sources of free information are YouTube tutorials, online magazines for those just getting started in the industry, "Design Sponge", H&T Design+Architecture Magazine's articles section and styleandarchitectureblog's articles section.

Interior design can be broken down into two large categories: residential and commercial. Residential interior design is the process of enhancing a private home. There are many factors that go into this, from the size and layout of the home to fit a family's lifestyle, to creating an inviting atmosphere for entertaining guests or for making a child's room feel like their own personal paradise. Commercial design aims at designing spaces in which people work and live. This ranges from tiny cubicle offices in big corporate buildings all the way up to luxurious penthouse suites with sweeping views of downtown skylines.

It's always best to start by understanding the basics of interior design. One should assess their taste and preferences, know what they want (in terms of style), and then find a professional who can advise on the other specifics such as furniture style/style, paint color, fixtures etc. The first thing to do is get an idea in your head about what features you're looking for. There are many different looks and styles for homes, so it can be hard to come up with a definitive answer - this is why people often consult professionals such as interior designers to help them refine their ideas.
