Microsuede seems to be more like slippery suede and not what you're looking for if you had no slipcovers on your couch. Fabric sofas are typically an easy to scratch material with cheaper upholstery fibers that will eventually stain or tear at repeated use from items like children's toys or human nails scraping against them when sitting down.
