An Interior Designer is traditionally someone who designs spaces within atmospheres, which can be either exterior or interior and usually includes furniture selection, color schemes, style trends and other decorative details that enhance the design.
A degree in Interior Design encompasses a variety of subjects that include both art and science as well as cultural contexts. It takes 4-6 years to attain this degree for undergraduate students with undergraduate degrees in one of the 3 major disciplines: Architecture, Fine Arts or Interior Design/Architecture; while graduate level programs take 2-3 years to complete on average.
It entails applied knowledge including, but not limited to architectural principles, sustainable building practices, construction materials.
